Athletic or sports-related injuries:
We treat running and sports injuries from the perspective of a lifetime athlete, coach, and foot and ankle specialist. Common injuries include ankle sprains and fractures, tendonitis, bursitis, faciitis, fractures, and nail injuries.

Children’s care:
We treat children for problems such as ingrown toenails, warts, gait abnormalities (using orthotics), heel pain, and sports injuries.
Diabetes:
A large part of our practice is devoted to the care and treatment of diabetic foot problems. We provide routine care, such as shaving corns and calluses and trimming toenails, and treat ulcers and infections. We perform examinations of the circulatory system and nervous system of diabetics and provide information that helps prevent infections and amputations. We also provide shoe inserts, orthotics, and custom shoes to take weight and pressure off areas that are susceptible to irritation and ulceration.
Fungal toenails: We treat fungal toenails on a regular basis, using topical antifungal medicine and oral antifungal medication. We also teach patients how to avoid the conditions that encourage fungal growth.
Geriatric care: We feel a special affinity for older people and we enjoy helping them, regardless of how minor their foot problem might be. For people with an inability to reach their feet and with compromised circulation, diabetes, or other peripheral maladies, we perform routine maintenance, such as trimming toenails and debriding and caring for corns and calluses. We also provide advice regarding shoes and treat any other foot problems present.
Heel and arch pain: Commonly referred to as plantar fasciitis, heel pain is a very common problem in our population. Heel and arch pain can last for as long as two years. We treat this problem with injection therapy, strappings, teaching effective Achilles tendon stretches, recommending proper footware, night splints, orthotic therapy, physiotherapy, and as a last resort, if all conservative treatment fails, extracorporeal shockwave therapy. Most patients respond very well to treatment for heel and arch pain.
Ingrown toenails are usually a hereditary condition. Once they becomes problematic, they can be a recurring cause of pain and infection. We have treated this condition for more than 35 years by permanently resolving the problem. After anesthetizing the toe, the portion of the toenail that is ingrown is removed and the matrix, or root, of that portion is chemically cauterized. This procedure is painless except for the local anesthetic, and does not restrict activities afterward. It is nearly 100% successful in permanently resolving ingrown toenails.
Neuromas (painful nerve tumors in the forefeet): This condition is treated with injection therapy, padding, metatarsal pads, and orthotics. These therapies achieve resolution of the pain in approximately 50% of cases. When other treatments fail to address the pain, surgical excision of the neuroma is recommended. We offer 4% alcohol sclerosing injections.
Orthotics: Biomechanical orthotic devices are made from plaster molds of the feet in a neutral subtailor position. Orthotics are used in the treatment of numerous conditions, for instance, gait abnormalities, bunions, hammertoes, heel and arch pain, neuromas, ulcers, and chronic painful areas on the soles of the feet. Orthotics are also used in the treatment of children’s gait abnormalities and in running and other athletic problems.
Warts are viral growths commonly treated in this office. We use various methods of treating warts, including acids, antiviral medication applied to the wart, and as a last resort, excision of the lesions. Warts are commonly seen in children, although people of all ages are susceptible.
